The start of the new school year
On the first day of school in August, all the families are welcomed to school for refreshments. You can hear from our Principal, Claus Campeotto and the Head of the International School, Karen Bøttger about what the new academic year will bring. New families can meet the class representatives for their child’s class and be introduced to other families. The children meanwhile, meet their new class mates and teacher.
Everyone loves International Day! The event kicks off with flag parade then moves on to dancing, singing and music from our talented children. Food and games are offered by lots different nationalities so everyone gets to travel the world filling in their passport and tasting cuisine from all over the globe. Usually there are over 40 countries represented.
This celebration draws together Divali, Halloween and the Day of the Dead. Children get to experience these traditions and try out new experiences to broaden their horizons.
Just before we head off for Christmas we gather to enjoy hot chocolate and Æbleskiver (a delicious Danish Christmas treat) with other families.
Book Week and book swap
This is a whole week celebrating books and the love of reading. Our children and teachers dress up for the character parade and during the week teachers read passages from their favourite children’s books. The best part of the week is the book swap where everyone donates books so they can take new ones home.
We gather at Næsseslottet, a beautiful Danish castle, to celebrate the arrival of spring. We use the kitchens and canteen of the Castle for our pot luck meal for the whole school. The parents relax on the grass while the children make rafts on the lake and have Nerf games in the extensive grounds.
End of year BBQ
Caterers provide a delicious BBQ so everyone can catch up with friends, old and new, before we all head off for the summer.
