Camp: an experience for life

Our annual camp remains one of the absolute highlights of the year in Ællingen. It not only creates lasting memories but also builds strong bonds between children and adults. The togetherness, the play, the sense of adventure, and the small victories along the way give the children a deep feeling of pride, resilience, and community that stays with them long after. It’s this very experience that makes Ællingen something truly special.

Togetherness through harvest and handcraft

A new tradition was born when the kindergarten explored a harvest theme, culminating in a big harvest celebration for both children and parents. Along the way, juice, bread, cakes, jam, apple compote and much more were made. The whole process was filled with collaboration and created a strong sense of unity. Working side by side – sowing, baking, pressing, and sharing – is a life value we wish to pass on. The harvest theme became a beautiful reminder of how learning and presence go hand in hand.

The power of imagination: teddy hospital and heroic deeds

One day, Ællingen was transformed into a teddy bear hospital, and the little emergency team was hard at work. Patients arrived in all shapes and sizes – with broken limbs, internal bleeding, dry coughs, and measles. The causes were many, but the care was immense. It wasn’t just play; it was a safe and empathetic way for children to process and understand illness, care, and compassion. Imagination ran free – and care grew along with it.

Danish history – with awe and adventure

Few themes have captured the children’s curiosity like our journey through Danish history. The children eagerly immersed themselves in everything from runes and hidden treasures to H.C. Andersen, Holger Danske, and Harald Bluetooth. Standing face to face with a legendary figure like Holger Danske in the casemates at Kronborg inspired both wonder and reverence. The theme opened up conversations, storytelling, and a deep curiosity – bringing history to life in a way that made sense to young minds.

It’s been a year where play, learning, and community have gone hand in hand. Now we look forward to sending off the school’s graduates with smiles and waving flags – before we all head into a well-deserved summer break.
