Svanereden

Community, Creativity and New Beginnings

This school year will be one that Svanereden remembers for a long time. It was a year of new surroundings, new friendships and a heartfelt farewell to the spaces that had been home to generations of children and staff.

At the same time, the year began with many of the traditions and activities that make Svanereden such a special place. New children and families were welcomed into the community, and the year included everything from Lego tournaments and Halloween celebrations to Christmas activities, creative projects and shared experiences across age groups. Common to all of them was a desire to create a place where children can thrive, develop and enjoy being together.

Creativity, Play and Shared Experiences

Throughout the year, the children expressed themselves through art, play and community events. The spring Art Month became a particular highlight, filling Svanereden with creativity, colour and imagination. The month concluded with an exhibition where children proudly presented their artwork to one another and their families. Paintings, collages, felt projects and many other creative creations showcased both talent and the joy of making something with their own hands.

The year also included the popular girls’ and boys’ evenings, where community and friendship took centre stage. With pizza, films, games, laughter and cosy activities, children created memories and friendships that extend far beyond everyday life in Svanereden.

A Farewell and a New Beginning

For the staff, the autumn was shaped by a very special task. After many years in Cirkelhuset, Svanereden had to be packed up and prepared for the move to NGG’s new school building.

Behind the scenes, sorting, packing and planning became part of daily life as a chapter that had framed countless childhood memories gradually came to an end. It also meant saying a fond farewell to Svanereden’s rabbits, who happily found new homes with caring families ready to provide both love and plenty of carrots.

The move also marked the beginning of something new. Naturally, the first months in the new surroundings required adjustment for both children and adults, but the new environment quickly developed its own rhythm and atmosphere.

New Friendships in the New Svanereden

Today, the cafeteria area is full of life every afternoon. Danish and international children come together across classes and languages to play chess, work on creative projects, challenge each other at table football, play cards and enjoy games together. Others head outdoors, where football matches are almost always underway.

The interaction between children from the Danish and international sections of the school has become a natural part of daily life in the new building. New friendships are formed, English and Danish words flow freely back and forth, and every day children learn a little more about one another and the world around them.

An Important Part of the NGG Community

Svanereden is closely connected to the rest of the school, and this becomes especially clear as the school year draws to a close. Soon, this year’s graduates will be celebrated, and as tradition dictates, the children of Svanereden will once again play an important role in marking one of NGG’s most special days.

It is a beautiful reminder of something unique about NGG: the youngest and oldest students are part of the same community. From the first days in Svanereden to the moment a graduation cap is placed on a student's head, the school is filled with people who learn, grow and create memories together.

Looking back on the year in Svanereden, one thing stands out above all else: although the surroundings have changed, it is still the sense of community, curiosity and joy of being together that makes Svanereden such a special place.
