Early Years
Discovery, Creativity and Growth
This year in Early Years has been filled with curiosity, creativity and growth as the children explored a range of exciting themes through the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC). Each unit encouraged them to investigate, ask questions, make connections and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
Exploring Oceans and Outer Space
Our journey began with Ocean Treasures, where the children immersed themselves in the fascinating world of oceans and marine life. Through stories, art, sensory play and hands-on investigations, they explored sea creatures, beaches and the importance of caring for our environment. A visit to the aquarium brought the topic to life as the children observed marine animals up close and connected their classroom learning with real-world experiences.
From the depths of the ocean, our learning then took us beyond our planet during Blast Off!. The children became young explorers as they discovered the planets, stars and constellations, rockets and space travel. Through imaginative play, creative projects and scientific inquiry, they developed their curiosity and critical thinking skills while sharing ideas and imagining life in space. Their enthusiasm and endless questions made this unit a particular highlight of the year.
Learning Through Play and Exploration
We concluded the year with Let’s Play Outside, celebrating the joy of outdoor learning. The children explored soil, water and the changing seasons while learning through play and discovery. Rainy days brought puddle jumping and outdoor adventures, while sunny days were spent at the water table and sandbox, building rivers and experimenting with how water moves.
These experiences encouraged creativity, collaboration, problem-solving and physical development, while reinforcing one of the most important principles of Early Years education: children learn best when they are actively engaged in exploring the world around them.
Growing Through Change
This year also marked an important milestone for our school community as we moved into our new school building. The children approached this transition with remarkable resilience, adaptability and enthusiasm. They quickly embraced new routines, explored new learning spaces and helped create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone.
Watching them navigate such a significant change with confidence and positivity was a powerful reminder of how capable and flexible young learners can be.
Developing Confident Learners
Throughout the year, the children continued to develop the personal learning goals that are at the heart of the IEYC. They grew as communicators by sharing their thoughts and ideas with increasing confidence, as collaborators by working together and supporting one another, and as adaptable learners by embracing new challenges and experiences.
Most importantly, they developed independence, confidence, kindness and a genuine love of learning.
As we reflect on the many experiences, friendships and accomplishments of the year, we celebrate how much each child has grown. Their curiosity, creativity, perseverance and enthusiasm have made every day a joy, and we look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead.
