Secondary (Years 7-10)

Secondary

A year of growth, connection and new horizons

As we look back on the 2024–2025 academic year, I feel an enormous sense of pride in what our learners, staff, and community have accomplished together. This has been a year of learning, growth, and memorable experiences.

From Year 11’s adventurous introtur with the Gymnasium in Tisvilde to their unforgettable trip to Budapest, our learners have shown courage, curiosity, and a deep sense of community. Across all year groups, our learners embraced team-building days at treetop climbing parks, Airtrix, gymnastics, and more – developing confidence and connections beyond the classroom.

Our social calendar was full of colour and celebration. The Year 7 & 8 Mask Ball was a joyful highlight and the Year 9 & 10 party was a huge success, while our overnight trips to Silkeborg, Ribe, Ranum, and Berlin created space for independence, exploration, and shared memories. Events like International Day and Julebasaar brought us together as a school—through food, culture, and a shared sense of hygge.

In sports, our learners pushed boundaries and took risks – whether mountain biking, running cross country, playing rugby, volleyball, dodgeball, or football. Our September Sports Day brought the whole school together for fun and friendly competition, and our May Athletics Day shone with warm weather, determined runners, and enthusiastic participation.

Celebrating achievements, embracing change, and building the future together

Outside the classroom, Year 10 students explored the world of work with maturity and a growing sense of responsibility. Both Year 10 and 11 engaged thoughtfully in sessions about safe sex and substance awareness, guided by our trusted partner, Sex og Samfund. These are the kinds of learning experiences that shape not only informed learners but responsible global citizens.

Academically, our learners have shown dedication and progress across the board – through IGCSEs, Checkpoint exams, progression tests, and reflective consultations with teachers and parents. Year 8's visit to the United Nations and Year 11’s trip to the Danish Parliament brought real-world context to our studies, while the first full year of the IMYC curriculum gave our youngest secondary learners a new lens through which to connect and engage with their subjects.

We’ve also looked ahead. Year 9 learners have chosen their IGCSE subjects, taking confident steps toward their futures. We've prepared for the exciting launch of the IB Diploma Programme in August 2025, with open evenings and training sessions already underway.

And finally, a few milestones worth marking: our school turned 41, we have seen the last full school year in this well-used and loved building, our principal Thomas turned 50, and the rest of us turned just a little older, a little wiser, and certainly richer in learning, experience, and connection.

Our long-awaited new school building is nearly ready to welcome us – and with it, the next chapter in our school's story. Thank you to every learner, teacher, and parent for your part in making this such a rich and rewarding year. Here's to all we’ve achieved – and all the adventures yet to come.
